Congenital anomalies, also known as congenital disorders, are defined as structural or functional abnormalities (e.g. congenital metabolic disorders) that are present during pregnancy. These congenital disorders can be diagnosed before birth, during newborn screening, or later in childhood.
More than 600 disadvantaged children across the country have been healed by talented leading doctors in Vietnam and around the world. Commonly treated conditions include congenital retinal detachment, cleft palate, vascular disease, orthopaedic and neurological issues, and abdominal and gastrointestinal trauma, among many other special cases.
Nearly two decades ago, a group of French doctors came to Vietnam to deliver a message of unconditional love, equality, and hope for children with congenital disabilities through The Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund – dearly known in Vietnamese as “Raise the Childhood”. Stemming from this passion and kindled by pure kindness, the dream shared by these French doctors has been taken up by many other Vietnamese, donors, and volunteers, all of whom were inspired to create opportunities for disadvantaged children in Vietnam to receive much-needed care.
