Children's Disease Information

Pham Hong Ngoc was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis and hydrocephalus when she was just 16 months old. The tumor in her left eye has been growing steadily, and combined with the malformation on her forehead, it has completely covered her left eye, severely affecting her vision.

 

Over the years, Hong Ngoc has undergone three surgeries at Children’s Hospital 2 and the Eye Hospital.

 

By the end of 2023, she underwent another surgery to remove the tumor in the eye area performed by Dr. Mc Kinnon, a highly experienced specialist in reconstructive surgery. In October 2025, Hong Ngoc is expected to undergo her second surgery with Dr. Mc Kinnon, continuing her journey to regain her sight.

 

Hong Ngoc’s father works as a farmer, with income depending on unstable crop yields, while her mother is a teacher earning about 8 million VND per month. The family also has a younger daughter who is still in school. Every expense for living and education for the two children must be carefully managed from this limited income.
