Trần Thùy Anh is 10 years old this year. She was born a healthy baby, just like any other child. However, when Thùy Anh was only a few months old, her parents noticed an unusual redness in her eyes. They rushed her to the doctor—only to be devastated by the diagnosis: retinal detachment.
From that moment on, her parents went everywhere, doing everything they could to save their daughter’s eyesight. But despite all their efforts, they eventually had to face the heartbreaking truth: Thùy Anh would have to live in darkness.
Sadly, the pain did not end there. As she grew older, her brain development slowed. Up to now, Thùy Anh still cannot speak, but what comforts her parents is that she understands everything her loved ones say. At times, she shows signs of hyperactivity, and her left leg suffers from severe muscle contracture, making it impossible for her to walk independently. She is in urgent need of surgery.
Due to their daughter’s condition, both parents have had to take on home-based jobs—trying to earn extra income while staying close to care for Thùy Anh every day. Recently, her father began taking her to the Huynh Đệ Như Nghĩa Home for the Visually Impaired, about 45 minutes from their house, and picking her up again in the afternoon. Her parents hope that Thùy Anh can grow up alongside other children, be lovingly supported by the Soeurs, and that one day, her condition may gradually improve.
Through this home, our Fund learned about Thùy Anh’s story and was informed that she needs leg surgery. If the surgery is successful, she will have the chance to walk again—to take her own steps with her own legs, instead of relying entirely on others for support.
We sincerely hope that generous donors will join hands with us to give Thùy Anh the opportunity to undergo this surgery—a small step filled with hope, helping her overcome one of the many challenges she faces every day.
Note:
The estimated total budget is based on the initial treatment plan provided by the doctor.
The budget may be adjusted following subsequent follow-up appointments.
At the end of the treatment process, the final expenses will be updated accurately and substantiated with medical records from the hospital providing care for the children.
