Y Kden Bdap, an 11-year-old boy, has a congenital condition that makes him smaller than his peers. His pectus excavatum causes pressure on his lungs and heart, making him frequently suffer from pneumonia and struggle with strenuous physical activities. As a result, he and his father often travel to Ho Chi Minh City to treat the complications of his condition. His father shared that each school year, Y Kden may have to take 1-2 months off to receive treatment and recover. Upon first meeting Y Kden, the Foundation was pleasantly surprised by how mischievous and lovable he was. Although he was a bit shy around strangers, his eyes sparkled with curiosity about the world around him. If not for his condition, Y Kden would likely be running around the hospital, exploring every corner. His innocence and lively spirit seemed to brighten the otherwise somber atmosphere of those long days of treatment.
