Little boy Y Kden Bdap was born with a congenital condition that caused his body to be smaller than other children his age. His chest deformity compressed his lungs and heart, making him prone to frequent pneumonia, shortness of breath, and difficulty engaging in physical activity. Because of this, he and his father often had to travel to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment of various complications. His father shared that there were years when Y Kden had to miss one to two months of school just to undergo treatment and recovery. After years of tirelessly searching for a miracle for his son, there came a time when the father almost lost hope, unsure if his boy would ever be able to live a normal life.
Then, the miracle finally came. The Children’s Future Fund stepped in to support Y Kden just in time. In June 2023, a team of doctors held a consultation and performed a major surgery that restored the shape of Y Kden’s chest to normal. His health fully recovered afterward, and he has since been able to attend school regularly like other children his age — no longer needing those long medical trips to Saigon.
As of early October 2025, after a follow-up examination and X-ray, doctors have prescribed another surgery: thoracoscopic resection of an atypical lung segment and removal of the corrective chest bar.
Note:
The estimated total cost is based on the initial treatment plan provided by the doctor.
The cost may be adjusted after follow-up appointments.
Upon completion of the treatment process, the final cost will be accurately updated and substantiated by the medical records from the hospital where the children are receiving treatment.
