Trung was born without a mother’s love, as she was a single mother who passed away when he was still very young. His legal guardian and only source of support is his grandmother, who is now over 70 years old. Despite her age, she continues to work to earn a living and take care of Trung. To make a living, Trung's grandmother has to travel to Sa Pa to work as a housemaid, while Trung stays and lives at a foster care center. Before his surgeries, he faced many challenges in his daily life and mostly relied on the support of the center. However, after two surgeries, Trung now has fingers and can manage tasks such as washing dishes and doing laundry on his own.

In November 2024, Trung is scheduled for a follow-up appointment with Dr. Stéphane Guero to plan the next surgery to further separate his fingers, helping him improve his daily activities.
