Đặng Ngọc Phương Khánh was born with a congenital condition known as syndactyly, a hereditary deformity in which the fingers are fused together, affecting both of her hands. Since birth, Khánh and her family have faced a long and challenging journey, holding on to one simple hope: that one day, her little hands could be reconstructed, allowing her to play, learn, and carry out everyday activities with the same confidence and independence as other children her age.
Khánh comes from a family facing difficult circumstances. Her parents are divorced, and her mother has had to work far from home to earn a living and support the family. As a result, Khánh lives with her maternal grandmother, who has been her primary caregiver and has accompanied her throughout her medical treatment. Sadly, the condition runs in the family. Not only Khánh, but also her grandmother, mother, and older sister have syndactyly affecting their hands. From a very young age, Khánh has had to face challenges that no child should have to endure.
Hoping to improve the function and appearance of her hands, Khánh's family has arranged for her to undergo several finger separation surgeries. Each procedure has brought pain, rehabilitation, and the challenge of regaining hand function. Despite these difficulties, Khánh and her family have remained determined throughout her treatment journey.
Today, their perseverance has brought a significant milestone: the fingers on Khánh's right hand have been successfully separated through surgery. This achievement represents the result of a long journey filled with hope and has given her family renewed motivation to pursue further treatment for her remaining hand.
Khánh's wish is perhaps a simple one: to have more functional hands so that she can grasp objects, play, learn, and grow up with greater confidence and independence.
We sincerely hope that compassionate donors and supporters will join hands to help Khánh receive the medical treatment she still needs. With your kindness and generosity, she can have the opportunity to undergo further reconstructive surgery, improve her hand function, and look forward to a brighter future.
Every contribution, no matter the size, can bring Khánh one step closer to her dream of having two fully functional hands and embracing the opportunities every child deserves.
