Diagnosed with Apert Syndrome – a rare congenital disorder that causes cleft palate, syndactyly (webbed fingers and toes), and craniofacial abnormalities. Kiên has undergone multiple surgeries, including cranial reconstruction, cleft palate repair, and finger separation. In November 2022, with the support of The Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund, he successfully underwent surgery to separate the middle and ring fingers of his left hand.
Currently, Kiên lives with his grandparents, parents, and two older sisters in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. His father is a ride-hailing driver and the main provider for the family. His mother stays home to care for Kiên and his grandmother, who is battling cancer.
After many rounds of treatment for Kiên, the family’s savings have been nearly depleted. He still has the middle and ring fingers on his right hand fused together, which affects his daily activities. The family is hoping for continued support from the Fund so Kiên can undergo further consultation and surgery, giving him the opportunity for a more normal development.
