Through a scholarship nomination from La Van Cau Elementary School, we were fortunate to learn about Hoang Thi Bao Thy – a kind and hardworking student, though sadly, she suffers from a difficult-to-treat condition. From birth, Thy had visible deformities on her face, which have grown over time. Her family has taken her to many places for treatment, and she has undergone two surgeries, but there has been little improvement. Coming from a disadvantaged background, her family has struggled to afford treatment, and despite their best efforts, the financial strain has become a significant obstacle.
Now six years old, Thy has lived with these tumors for three years since her last treatment. The left side of her face is severely deformed, and her teeth are affected, limiting her to soft foods. Recently, Thy was examined by facial specialists, and tests revealed two tumors: one lipoma on her chin and another lipoma combined with a lymphatic malformation on her cheek. Thy will first undergo surgery to remove the chin tumor and treat her jaw and teeth. After recovery, she will undergo a second surgery on her cheek. Although these are complex tumors, the doctors are determined to do their best to help restore her face.

Feb 28, 2017 - 08:07 pmToday baby Thy came for a follow-up check-up after 2 weeks of being discharged from the hospital. The baby's incision is now dry and the incision is very beautiful, without affecting the baby's aesthetics. Her father said she could now bow her head. 6 months later, baby Thy will return for surgery on the tumor in her cheek.
Today the baby was also very happy because she received a gift from a visiting benefactor.

Feb 28, 2017 - 08:07 pmBaby Bao Thy had recovered well after surgery. During this surgery, the doctor had planned medicine and blood transfusion in case the baby got severed. Fortunately the surgery was completed successfully, the baby recovered well after surgery and was painless.

Baby Bao Thy is quiet and obedient, always listening to her father's instructions when going to strange places. The baby was given tests such as MRI, X-ray, etc. Having been to the hospital many times for treatment, Thy was not afraid of having to take tests.
