The Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund – Where Miracles Are Written

 

Little Dương Nguyễn Thiên Lam, affectionately called "Đậu," was born in 2021 in Lâm Đồng. Today, she’s learning to speak her first words, her bright, twinkling eyes full of mischief and charm.

 

But few know that just months ago, Thiên Lam’s family faced a devastating shock when doctors diagnosed her with retinoblastoma – a life-threatening and vision-destroying cancer.

 

FROM PAIN TO HOPE

At the beginning of 2024, doctors recommended removing one of Thiên Lam’s eyes to stop the tumor from spreading. This heartbreaking news hit her parents, Mr. Thảo and Ms. Nga, like a bolt of lightning. The thought of their daughter losing her sight forever was almost too much to bear.

 

Hope glimmered when the family was introduced to The Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund, which collaborated with vascular intervention experts from FV Hospital and specialists from the Eye Hospital. With the fund’s support, Thiên Lam received intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) – a cutting-edge treatment that delivers chemotherapy drugs directly to the blood vessels feeding the tumor, helping to shrink and eliminate it.

 

Starting in September 2024, Thiên Lam underwent three sessions of IAC. By early December 2024, the family received the incredible news: MRI scans, retinal examinations, and ultrasounds confirmed that the retinoblastoma tumor had disappeared. Even more miraculous, Thiên Lam retained both her eyes – a gift beyond words.

 

Her parents expressed their overwhelming joy: “Seeing our daughter healthy and retaining her sight is the greatest gift our family has ever received. We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this miracle happen!”
